(a country I spend quite sometimes
as an exchange student)

Tervetuloa
- Welcome
This is
a country where Nokia (Mobile Phone) came from and a country where the
largest users of Internet in the world. Situated in Northern Europe and
a quarter of its total area lies north of the Arctic Circle. One of the
coldest country in Europe and the place called Lapland as one of tourist
attraction nowadays where the Santa Claus live. Finland's neighbouring
countries are Sweden to the West, Norway to the north, Russia to the east
and Estonia to the south, across the Gulf of Finland.
When my first
time came to finland , one experienced i would never forget is to see the
amount of snows which I never seen before.....and a temperature of minus
20 Celcius. It was really cold as I felt living in a freezer.
Although I am studying in England and thought it's cold, I would say ....sorry..its
far more cold than England and obviously for Brunei as well. Even
though it is really cold I quite like it . I never lived in the country
quite cold like this before and living in the beautiful nature of its lakes
and its own landscape.
Now....lets talk
a bit about the factsheet of Finland. Finland is a republic which became
independent in 1917. The population of Finland today is approximately
5,132,000 million. Finland also known as a land of forests its cover roughly
three quarters of the country's surface area of 338,000 sq.km. Other outstanding
features of Finland's scenery are its great number of lakes and islands.
In 1995 became a member of the European Union.
Becoming a member
of the United Nations in 1995 since then Finland has taken part in many
of the world organisation's peacekeeping operation. There are 20 Universities
or other institutes of higher education, with a total student population
of 130,865. The currency of Finland is the markka, also known as the Finnish
mark. The official languages of Finland are Finnish and Swedish.
I was studying
at a Business School, branch of Lahti Polytechnic in a small town of Heinola.
It tooks 2 hours drive from the capital city of Finland, Helsinki.
Heinola is a nice small town both in the winter and in the summer. Because
it is a small town the peoples are very friendly and very helpful.
I noticed the Finnish peoples are shy, even in the class at the school.
Perhaps not all of them are shy, maybe one or two but if they are drinking
(alcohol) its opposite . They was more talking than I do and I admit
they are very friendly and nice.
Talking about
snows in Finland, I was experiencing the things I had never done in my
life such as Downhill skiing (at Himos), Cross-country skiing (at Vierumakki)
and Ice fishing (at Sysma). I know its a valuable and great experience
that I would not forget as I come from the country which doesn't have snow.
Fishing above the icy lake were amused me so much.
For ice fishing
,I had learn to digged the ice with a special digger so there's a hole
to put the string from the small fishing rod into the water and sat there
waiting for the bite from the fish. If there's no bite, I have to move
to a different area and I have to digged the ice again . Even though it
was cold, it was fun and didnt need a boat at all, just walked in the icy
lake and dig a hole wherever you want to.....he he he.
Talking
about lakes in Finland, the water are very clean almost you can drink it
straight away. In Finland there was a lots of beautiful summer cottages
by the lake which is so nice scenery by its beautiful nature especially
in the summer.
Sauna in Finland
is very common for the Finnish, nearly every houses in Finland have sauna.
In my life I never used sauna as much as I was in Finland, it was so relaxing
and good.

you can use in Finland (trust me)
