In the autumn, Monica Booth-Thomson agreed to show her cine films of Afghans from the 1960s and 1970s. This was an excellent opportunity for enthusiasts to learn more about the breed and to see some of the greats from the past, many of whom are behind todays winners. The event was attended by over 40 people and was once again helped out by donations of food and we all had a feast! Im sure there will be much demand for this type of event to be repeated in the future.
We had an excellent attendance and a lovely festive atmosphere for our Christmas Knockout judged by June Griffin. We had an excellent entry of over twenty dogs and June chose the following as her class winners: Puppy Walk - Roberta Hall, handling Karnak Jeera at Saxonmill; Puppy - Margaret Fox, handling Shimalma Philadelphia of Foxall;Yearling - Cathy Barnes, handling Araki Smashing Pumpkins; Adult Dog - Kerry Smith, handling Kharisar Rajkuma; Adult Bitch - Nicola Mulvale, handling Azymuth Which Witch is Witch; Veteran - Alan Jenkins, handling John Morts Molriq Calypso; Junior Handling - Clare McKeown, handling Izzie. Overall Best Handler of the Night was Margaret Fox. The Best Presented Afghan was Lynda and John Races Kaskarak Ricarchet, handled on this occasion by John. This year, the sausage roll race was so popular that we had two classes, puppy and adult. Greediest puppy was Lynne Newtons Shimalma Cactus Jack. However, even Jack would have found difficulty beating the adult winner, Cathy Barnes Whippet, who demonstrated that you dont have to be big to eat quickly! We all enjoyed an excellent evening and we would like to thank everyone who brought raffle prizes and food for the buffet.
