Naphill in Buckinghamshire

Past Times & Treasures

The exhibition which Pam is entitling "Past Times & Treasures" of Naphill and Walters Ash will be held in Naphill Village Hall on 20th September 2003 from 10am to 4pm. Pam previously held one in 1988 and two in 2000, the picture opposite shows a cutting from the Bucks Free Press from 1988. Each exhibition has been a great success that the hall was packed and Pam has had many requests to repeat the event.

Pam has lived in the locality all her life, has been on Naphill Village Hall Council for 35 years. She is a past Chair for Naphill Neighbours (a village organisation), she has helped for many years with the Village Fete, organising the floats and the procession along Main Road. She lived in Forge Road where her she and her husband built their first bungalow in 1958. For the last 14 years she has lived in Walters Ash, which is the next village from Naphill.

Pam is very interested in all local affairs and has been on committees for Wycombe Mayor's Charities & Ball Committees in the past.

Pam has been busy researching her own family tree and her ancestors have had connections with Bradenham Church, her Great Great Grandfather being christened there in 1797. She also has connections with Hughenden Church where her Great Great Aunt was a Sunday school teacher until she died in 1912. She lived with Pam's Great Great Grandmother in Hunts Hill Lane, Naphill in 1871. Naphill, not having its own church, was well connected with both Churches. Pam's claim to be a "local" is a very real one. Pam's maiden name is Newell.

Pam's exhibition will have on show Charlie Lacey's ledger of his undertaking for Naphill back to 1907, which gives a history of the Village.

Pam's Great Uncle Claude Newell built Naphill Village Hall, he was chosen from builders who put in tenders for the work.
