Saturday Fight
Night Episode #7
The Leisure Centre, Andover, Hampshire
Your commentary team is Chris Freeman and Adam Wheeler.
The Saturday Fight Night opening titles played and Chris Freeman welcomed
viewers to the show. The commentators hyped-up tonight's main event, a rematch
from last week with Bryan Campbell defending the TV Title against Scottie Hero.
They then turned their attention to the upcoming Number-One-Contenders-Match
between La Cosa Nostra and the New Young Lions. The Italians have the upper hand
on their opponents after they defeated Brandon Alvarez and Kyle Coulbourne last
week on this very show. Now La Cosa Nostra have a big issue with Tag Team
Champions The Hammersmith Hard Men and the hatred is mutual. The Italians put
Gaz Phillips on the shelf on their first night in, but he returned last week to
administer a beating to Majoli and Saronni. La Cosa Nostra would love nothing
more than to take the gold from the Hammersmith Hard Men. They have that
opportunity right now!
Number-One-Contenders-Match:
La Cosa Nostra (Manuel Majoli and Matteo Saronni) defeated
The New Young Lions (Brandon Alvarez and Kyle Coulbourne) when Majoli pinned
Alvarez with the Paysan Plant in 0:20:25.
Rating: *** 1/4
Match highlights:
With a Tag Team Title shot against the Hammersmith Hard Men at GrandSlam up for
grabs, both teams pulled out all the stops. Matteo Saronni executed an Italian
legsweep and a leg lariat on Kyle Coulbourne. Manuel Majoli locked Coulbourne in
a cross armbreaker. Coulbourne was able to escape the hold though and
clotheslined Majoli over the top rope. He followed up with a superb tope onto
Majoli at ringside. Saronni back suplexed Coulbourne and the Italians hit him
with a double back-body drop. Brandon Alvarez scored a two count on Saronni with
a flying cross body. The New Young Lions nailed Majoli with a double vertical
suplex. Matteo Saronni went for a figure-four leglock but Alvarez turned it into
a small package for two. La Cosa Nostra brought Alvarez down with a double
legsweep and then Saronni placed him in a cross-face chicken wing but Alvarez
was able to reach the ropes and force a break. Coulbourne took Saronni over with
a snap suplex and Brandon Alvarez followed up with a flying dropkick. Coulbourne
executed a swinging neckbreaker and a spinning DDT on Majoli. The New Young
Lions then hit their double Flatliner finisher on Saronni, but Majoli made the
save as the show went to an ad break.
When the show returned from commercials, Manuel Majoli planted Coulbourne with a
fisherman buster. The Italians gave Coulbourne the Kiss of Death, but Alvarez
broke up the pin and saved his partner from being pinned. However, Majoli struck
with the Paysan Plant on Alvarez for the win and the title match. It was the
same move they used last week to put away the New Young Lions, but this time
Alvarez took the manoeuvre. What a great match!
La Cosa Nostra didn't even get a chance to celebrate their victory as The
Hammersmith Hard Men hit the ring and laid them out with a couple of wicked
stereo chair shots. The crowd popped for the champions as Rick Knight called for
the mic. He sarcastically congratulated Majoli and Saronni for picking up the
win and then challenged one of them to meet him next week in singles action on
Hammerlock TV. Knight threw the microphone down on Saronni's body and left with
Gaz Phillips.
Chris Freeman revealed that a match had been signed and sealed between the
artist formerly known as Midnight Blue, Matt Sizemore, and Anthony DeAngelo for
GrandSlam. It was our second chance to see DeAngelo in action next as he faced
Junior Jones, fresh off a big win over Devon Ferrari last week.
Anthony DeAngelo and Junior Jones battled to a no-contest in 0:02:16.
Rating: * 1/4
Match highlights:
Anthony DeAngelo threw Junior Jones down hard onto the mat with a bodyslam and
then scored with a legdrop. Junior Jones attempted to come back with a
clothesline, but DeAngelo blocked it and hiptossed The International Bright
Young Thing over the top rope. Matt Sizemore then hit the ring wielding a
baseball bat, leaving the referee with no option but to throw the match out.
Sizemore threw the referee to the mat and backed DeAngelo into the corner. He
took the mat and began choking him. Sizemore looked absolutely possessed, while
DeAngelo gasped for air. At ringside, Serenity took the microphone and begged
Sizemore to stop. Serenity said that he'd get DeAngelo at GrandSlam, but it was
really her that he wanted. Serenity said that it was her that Sizemore wanted to
tear limb from limb, not DeAngelo. She claimed that if he let DeAngelo go, then
she would wrestle him one-on-one next week! The crowd popped, while the
commentators couldn't believe what Serenity just said. In fact, nobody
could...maybe not even her! Sizemore looked at her and then released DeAngelo
from his clutches. Suddenly, Sizemore jabbed DeAngelo in the stomach with the
bat and left the ring. Serenity checked on her beau who was coughing and
spluttering. Sizemore turned back at the ring, pointed at Serenity with the bat
and ran his thumb across his throat.
Another video promo aired for the
Tag Team World Cup, which is coming atcha in
less than two weeks. More names have been announced that will be competing: the
team of Swi$$ Money Holding, Claudio Castagnoli and Ares, will be representing
Switzerland, Samu and Afa Jr. will represent Samoa, Dan Paysan and Tomassino
will represent Italy and "The Red Dragon" Aviv Maayan will team up with
Hammerlock's very own Mystikal to represent Wales!
Speaking of Mystikal, he's in action next against the dangerous Hiro Kakuhari.
Seamless.
Mystikal pinned Hiro Kakuhari after a 450 splash in 0:04:40.
Rating: *** 1/4
Match highlights:
Mystikal used his high-flying ability to take control of this contest, grounding
Kakuhari with a springboard rana and a missile dropkick that caught the Japanese
grappler right in the face. However, Kakuhari countered an Asai moonsault
attempt with a sickening roundhouse kick to the head. Mystikal went for a
Frankensteiner but Kakuhari power bombed him and then hit a Frankensteiner of
his own from the top turnbuckle. The crowd was right behind Mystikal though, who
had the fans going wild. He flew off the top rope and blasted Kakuhari with a
Frankensteiner, before pinning him with a 450 splash for something of an upset.
A huge win here tonight for Mystikal against the former Heavyweight Champion. If
Aviv Maayan was watching, then he'll have undoubtedly been happy with what he
saw. Mystikal may have worked himself into some sort of title contention with
that performance.

Footage rolled from last week's match between Cuthbert D. Fharquar and the afore
mentioned Mystikal. Fharquar's butler Jeeves came to blows with the biggest and
baddest member of Goldie Lookin' Chain, Mike Balls, during the course of that
contest. That led to a challenge to Jeeves from Mike Balls, setting up this
evening's match-up.
Jeeves defeated Mike Balls via pinfall in 0:15:03.
Rating: 1/2*
[Billy Webb and Adam Hussain interfered against Jeeves.]
[Cuthbert D. Fharquar interfered against Mike Balls.]
Match highlights:
Jeeves hit a jawbreaker and landed a big splash for an early near fall. He
executed a reverse neckbreaker and then tried to put Mike Balls away with a
bearhug. Balls broke the hold though and locked on a sleeper, before dropping
Jeeves with a hard kick to the head. The bout soon broke down to a straight-up
fight. Jeeves was successful with a side suplex and a belly to belly. Balls
missed an avalanche in the corner and Jeeves capitalised with a legdrop. Balls
attempted his Splash Mountain variation known as the Hormone Replacement, but he
struggled to lift the bulky butler up for the move. Jeeves struck with a low
blow and hit the Somersault Senton, but Adam Hussain put Balls' foot on the
rope. As the referee admonished the GLC at ringside, Cuthbert D. Fharquar hit
the ring and slugged Balls with a chair. The pinfall win for Jeeves was academic
from there.
Backstage, "Shotgun" Steve Bailey made his return to Hammerlock and immediately
made a beeline for Hammerlock president Peter Abram's office. Bailey wanted a
piece of Byson tonight. Abram informed Bailey that a match between the two had
been signed for GrandSlam. Bailey said that was fine with him, but he couldn't
guarantee that Byson would make it to Manchester in one piece. Abram corrected
Bailey, stating that the bout will only go ahead at GrandSlam if the two don't
lay a hand on each other until then. He said that there had been too much
carnage already and didn't want any more before the show. Bailey punched the
wall in anger and left.
***Commercial break***
Backstage, a beaming Cuthbert D. Fharquar talked with Kelly. He was delighted
with what had just gone down in the ring and claimed that next week, Lord J.T.
Potemkin would face Eggsy and he will also be victorious. Kelly cheekily asked
him if that that was because he'd hit Eggsy with a chair as well. Unimpressed,
Fharquar called Kelly a peasant and left with Jeeves.
Bryan Campbell defended the Television Title against Scottie Hero next in a
fifteen minute Iron Man Match. In last week's encounter between the two, The
Blue Chipper was within 30 seconds of losing the strap. Has his luck run out?
Iron Man Match:
Bryan Campbell drew Scottie Hero:
x B. Campbell beat S. Hero via a rolling reverse cradle into a bridge
in 0:03:42
x S. Hero beat B. Campbell via a flying sunset flip in 0:08:35
x S. Hero beat B. Campbell via the Koji Clutch in 0:13:46
x B. Campbell beat S. Hero via a rolling reverse cradle in 0:14:51
x time limit expired (B. Campbell and S. Hero) in 0:15:00
Rating: ** 3/4
(Bryan Campbell retained the NWA-UK Hammerlock Television Title.)
Match highlights:
There were several near falls in the early-going of this rematch from last week.
Bryan Campbell countered Scottie Hero's vertical suplex attempt into a small
package which earned a two count. Campbell went for a full nelson slam, but Hero
stopped him with a backward kick. Campbell executed a clothesline and a DDT,
before rolling Hero up and bridging for a three count. Campbell goes 1-0 up
quickly.
Refusing to feel downhearted, Hero fired back with a reverse neckbreaker and
then backdropped Campbell out of the ring. Campbell scored a near fall with a
beautiful flying cross body press. Hero fought out of a rear chinlock, but The
Blue Chipper brought him crashing back down to the canvas with a back suplex.
Hero ducked a clothesline and felled the TV champion with a backdrop. He then
pinned Campbell with a flying sunset flip to square up the contest at 1-1.
With over five minutes remaining of the contest, Scottie Hero locked in the Gory
Special, but Campbell wriggled free from the hold and dropkicked Hero. Hero
struck with a nice enzuigiri and went for the Last Action Hero. Campbell
countered into an inside cradle but Hero kicked out at 2 7/8!! Hero used a
vertical suplex and then drilled Campbell with the tiger driver. Hero signalled
the end and caught the Blue Chipper in the Koji Clutch. Campbell fought
gallantly but fearing a broken neck, the champion tapped to loud cheers from the
crowd. 2-1 to Hero; surely the title is his!
Campbell protested in vain with the official that he had been choked. The Blue
Chipper soon realised that time was not on his side and tried to put Hero away
with a hiptoss, a bodyslam and a flying forearm, all of which earned two counts!
The crowd were just beginning to count down the last remaining seconds as
Campbell rolled Hero up, grabbing a handful of tights for the three count!
Campbell equalised with just NINE seconds left to retain the gold. Bryan
Campbell was booed out of the building for his cheating.
Campbell must have Lady Luck in his back pocket as yet again he used skulduggery
in the nick of time to keep the Television Championship around his waist. Bryan
Campbell taunted Scottie Hero from the ramp, holding his championship aloft.
Hero made a small gap between his thumb and index finger and told Campbell he'd
been "that close" to taking the title as the show drew to a close.
