Saturday Fight Night Episode 12

Saturday Fight Night Episode #12
Civil Hall, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire
Your commentary team is Chris Freeman and Adam Wheeler.

The show began with a killer video package showing all the history between Jason Prentice and The Punisher. Everything was documented: The Punisher's criticism of Prentice's title reign, The Punisher refusing to let Prentice leave before his contract signing and subsequent steel cage title defence against Muerte de Antedicho, Prentice snapping and attacking The Punisher, issuing the challenge, Punisher accepting the challenge in the form of Total Punishment on the steel stage following Prentice's successful title defence against Ian Powers and it culminated with the controversial double-pin finish to their Heavyweight Title Match at Heatwave. Tonight, all the controversy will end once and for all as Jason Prentice defends the NWA-UK Hammerlock Title in a rematch against The Punisher.

The opening contest was a six man elimination match to determine the rankings for the NWA-UK Hammerlock Television Title. Devon Ferrari is obviously the next in line for a shot and he gets his crack at Bryan Campbell next week. However, the winner of tonight's match would become the next number one contender, the last man eliminated would become the number two contender and so on right up to the first man eliminated occupying the number six position. The bout featured Muerte de Antedicho, Scottie Hero, Junior Jones, Jawaid Kaleeq, Hiro Kakuhari and Matt Sizemore and pinfalls or submissions count as eliminations.

Match highlights:
As you might expect, this contest was all-action from bell to bell. Hiro Kakuhari obliterated Junior Jones with a barrage of kicks and planted him with a Northern Lights suplex for a two count. The International Bright Young Thing came back with a dragon suplex for two and a German suplex also earned a near fall on the Japanese grappler. Jawaid Kaleeq hit Jones with a spinning back suplex. Matt Sizemore rocked Jones with a flying clothesline. Jones nailed Muerte de Antedicho with a blockbuster. Kaleeq executed a tiger driver on Scottie Hero. Hero kicked out of Kakuhari's German suplex. Kaleeq escaped Kakuhari's Frankensteiner at the referee's two count. Sizemore rocked Jones with a spinebuster slam for two and got another near fall with a Blue Thunder Bomb. Sizemore then took Jones down with a German suplex and rolled a shoulder at two, so Jones was pinned and eliminated. Junior Jones takes sixth place in the rankings.
Hero tried to get revenge for his tag team partner as he executed the Last Action Hero on Sizemore. Antedicho hit Kakuhari with an Asai moonsault for two. Hero locked Antedicho in the Koji clutch. Kaleeq blasted Sizemore with a flying elbowsmash for a near fall. Kakuhari drilled Hero with the Rising Star Suplex and eliminated him.
Antedicho went for a top-rope Frankensteiner on Kakuhari, who had the presence of mind to counter with a vicious power bomb. The Spaniard recovered and dropped Kakuhari with a spinning leg lariat, before putting him away with the Antedicho Driver.
Kaleeq unloaded with elbowsmashes on Matt Sizemore and almost eliminated him with a tiger suplex, but Sizemore kicked out at two. Kaleeq scored with a missile dropkick on Antedicho and hit another tiger suplex. This time it was enough for the pinfall.
That left Jawaid Kaleeq and Matt Sizemore to battle it out for the number one contendership to the TV Title. Kaleeq hit Sizemore with a back elbow for two and followed up with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Kaleeq frog splashed Sizemore, but amazingly Sizemore kicked out!! Kaleeq missed a rolling elbowsmash and Sizemore floored him with a clothesline. Sizemore connected with a spinebuster slam for a two count. However, Kaleeq took Sizemore down in a cross armbreaker and polished him off with the Tiger Clutch! Jawaid Kaleeq is the number one contender to the Television Title!! What an awesome contest.

***Commercial break***

Match highlights:
Jason Prentice stalled as the bell ring, choosing to argue with the fans about ringside than lock up with The Punisher. Prentice dropped the challenger with a gutwrench suplex and scored with an elbowsmash and a swinging neckbreaker. Prentice and The Punisher took the fight outside the ring, where the champion insulted more ringsiders. Prentice hit a side suplex back in the ring and locked on a Boston Crab. The Punisher escaped, but felt the Perfect Shot which earned the champion a two count. Prentice complained about a slow count. The bout broke down into a slugfest as both men began trading rights and lefts. Prentice backdropped The Punisher. The Punisher fired back with a sidewalk slam and a hard lariat. The decibel level in the building was unbelievable. Punisher used a Doctor Bomb for a near fall. The Punisher kept the pressure on with a backbreaker and the fans were behind him all the way. The Punisher executed a Sky High and a power bomb scored another two count. Punisher rocked Prentice with a running power bomb, but the champion blocked a screwdriver attempt. The "Pun-ish-er!" chants were deafening!! The challenger kneed Prentice in the gut and slapped the hell out of him. Prentice came back with a baseball slide and he drove The Punisher back-first into the guardrail repeatedly. Jason Prentice seemed to be working the back, as The Punisher would experience difficulty executing the Total Punishment with a bad back. Punisher roared back with punches, but Prentice went to the eyes. Then, Linda O'Neil entered the ring and hit The Punisher in the back with a weak chair shot! The crowd were baying for Linda's blood as The Punisher turned and grabbed her by the hair! The Punisher set her up for the Total Punishment, but Prentice shocked him with a superkick for the three count! The show went to commercials with Prentice going 1-0 up.

Back from the break and The Punisher almost snapped Jason Prentice in two with a brutal spear. Punisher decked Prentice with a roundhouse right, but Prentice went right back to the Boston crab. Punisher went for the Total Punishment, but the nefarious champion countered with a low blow! Prentice applied a sleeperhold, but The Punisher managed to escape the hold. Prentice floored him with a dropkick and continued the punishment with an elbowsmash and a neck snap. Punisher turned the tide with a belly-to-back superplex, but it was short-lived as Prentice countered a clothesline with a crucifix for a two count. Prentice scored a near fall with the Perfect Stranger as the crowd vociferously booed the NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Champion. Punisher blocked the Perfect Plant to the joy of the crowd and hit a tilt-a-whirl powerslam. Punisher executed a belly-to-back suplex and went for another spear, but Prentice kneed him in the face. Prentice again went to the sleeper, but The Punisher broke it with a jawbreaker. Linda handed her man a steel chair and as Prentice raised it over his head to deliver the hammer blow, Punisher went low on the champion!! The Punisher then drilled Prentice with a brain buster on the chair for the pin! The bout is all-square and the champion was now busted wide open!!! Saturday Fight Night then took its final commercial break.

The show returned and Jason Prentice was juicing an absolute gusher. The blood was adding to the drama of the contest, which was over half an hour old. Linda feared for the health of her charge. Prentice and The Punisher chopped each other. Punisher dropped Prentice with a flying clothesline and hit a legdrop. Punisher blocked the Perfect Crime and scored with a T-Bone suplex. However, Prentice lifted a shoulder at two, refusing to relinquish the championship which means so much to him. The Punisher went for another brain buster, but Prentice countered with a small package for a near fall. This title bout was so evenly poised. The Punisher's Frankensteiner attempt was turned into a tiger driver by the champion which brought another two count. Prentice hiptossed the challenger and then both men floored each other with a double clothesline. The crowd was going into a frenzy! The mat was resembling a butcher's floor as Prentice was losing pints of blood. Prentice reversed an Irish whip and The Punisher ended up crushing referee Tony Parkes in the corner! The Punisher then executed the Total Punishment, but with the bout surely over there was no official to count the fall! As The Punisher tried to revive the official, Prentice seized possession of his title belt and he clocked the Punisher with it! Jason Prentice then blasted The Punisher with the Perfect Plant onto the gold and covered. Tony Parkes shook off the pain and got back on the job. He slowly crawled over and counted: one...two...KICKOUT!!! The crowd erupted! Prentice looked like he may cry when all of a sudden, the bell rang! The ring announcer informed everyone that the forty-five minute time limit had been reached so the bout was ruled a draw! Jason Prentice retains the championship!! The crowd jeered the flat finish and threw rubbish into the ring.

[Linda O'Neil interfered against The Punisher.]

Linda O'Neil helped the blood-splattered champion up the ramp. Jason Prentice cuddled his championship belt lovingly in his arms while The Punisher looked on from the ring in complete disbelief.

Circuit information:
What an epic Heavyweight Championship encounter we witnessed here this evening, but another unpopular ending. The forty-five minute time limit, the official time limit for a Two-out-of-three-Falls Match, was reached with both men having chalked up one fall apiece and so the match was declared a draw. Jason Prentice remains the NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Champion, but to say that The Punisher is unsatisfied would be a complete understatement. We are expecting some sort of official statement from Hammerlock headquarters in the coming week regarding the title situation, but the fact remains that we still haven't obtained a clear winner in the battle between Jason Prentice and The Punisher over the most prestigious championship in British wrestling today.

Jason Prentice required several staples to close the wound in his head but is not expected to miss any ring time.

Hats off to Jawaid Kaleeq for his performance tonight as he outlasted five other men to win the number one contendership to the TV Title. He'll be watching next week's title match between champion Bryan Campbell and Devon Ferrari very closely indeed.
