July 30th, 2001
Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone, Kent
Attendance: 2,516
TV rating: 3.9
(Once the Hammerlock TV titles finish rolling, the scene opens inside the jam-packed Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone. The entrance way and ring are lit up by a display of flashing lights. The camera pans around the masses in attendance, before zooming in towards the commentary table where Chris Freeman and Adam Wheeler are seated.)
Chris Freeman: Hello everyone and welcome to
Hammerlock TV!
(Another shot is shown of the screaming fans.)
CF: We are live in Folkestone, I’m Chris
Freeman…
Adam Wheeler: …and I’m “The Lyrical Miracle”
Adam Wheeler!
CF: The countdown is on until Heatwave, we are
just six days away and tensions are running high backstage. Indeed, we expect
all hell to break loose in our main event, which is a tag team match pitting
Bryan Campbell and M.J. against Migraine and Valkyrie.
AW: That is fixed to be a superb contest, not
least because of the burning hatred between Campbell and Migraine and the fact
that Valkyrie and M.J. just can’t stand each other.
CF: We also expect NWA-UK World Champion Hiro
Kakuhari to be in the house tonight, as well as the two men he will face at
Heatwave in a Triangle Match, Byson and “The Iceman” Ben Winter, but right now,
let’s go to the back.
Backstage:
(Two of Midnight Blue’s co-stars, Jaclyn Lick
and Kandi, are talking to each other beside a vending machine.)
CF: There you see two of Midnight Blue’s
ladies, who are returning tonight after a lengthy lay-off after injuries
suffered at the hands of Byson several weeks ago.
AW: Great to see them back!
CF: Easy, tiger.
(Devon Ferrari then walks in, interrupting the
girls’ conversation. He starts chatting them up and the ladies start giggling.
Ferrari whispers something in Kandi’s ear, and she laughs.)
CF: What is Ferrari doing?!
(Midnight Blue shows up with Serenity and
doesn’t look pleased.)
Blue: Hey!
(Ferrari turns around, right into a hard right
hand from Midnight Blue. Blue throws Ferrari into the vending machine and the
two men begin brawling on the ground until several referees intervene.)
AW: Whoa! I guess you were right, tensions are
running high!
CF: Midnight Blue faces Devon Ferrari in a
Falls Count Anywhere Match later tonight, but they don’t seem to want to wait!
AW: Nothing was resolved when the two
grapplers clashed on Saturday Fight Night, let’s hope they can finish things
tonight.
CF: The two young talented American kids who
impressed everyone on Saturday, Brandon Alvarez and Kyle Coulbourne –
collectively known as the New Young Lions, will team up with Ian Powers next to
do battle with the combination of The Bodysnatchers and the formidable
Smashmouth in six man tag team action, next.
AW: I know for a fact that Burke and Blair
were very upset and embarrassed at that loss to the two upstarts, so they’ll
want to avenge that defeat with…well, a vengeance. Having the 300 pound
Smashmouth on your team is quite a helping hand, too.
CF: Without any further ado, let’s go to the
ring.
The Bodysnatchers and Smashmouth defeated The
New Young Lions and Ian Powers
when
Blair pinned Coulbourne with the Blair Bomb in 0:19:29.
Rating: * 1/2
CF: The Blair Bomb does it for Coulbourne.
AW: A great win for The Bodysnatchers and
Smashmouth, but I can’t understand why they aren’t shoving these lucky
Americans into a couple of bodybags.
CF: I think they have too much respect for
them after last Saturday. NWA-UK World Television Champion “Picture Perfect”
Jason Prentice is standing by.
Backstage:
(Jason Prentice is leaning against a wall,
watching Linda O’Neil polishing his championship belt.)
Prentice: Look, you missed a bit…
(Referee Mike Warren walks past.)
Warren: Hey Jase, big match tonight, huh?
Shouldn’t you be getting ready?
Prentice: Hold on, I have a match tonight?!
Warren: Yeah, didn’t you know?
Prentice: No, nobody tells me anything around
here! They are making me wrestle just six days before I defend my gold on
pay-per-view?! In a cage match, no less! Who’s my opponent?
Warren: Muerte de Antedicho…
Prentice: What?! But I beat that luchador
loser weeks ago! Why the hell do I have to wrestle him again?!
Warren: Er, that’s not all. You also have to
face Jawaid Kaleeq…
Prentice: Ja-who?! A triangle match?
Wonderful.
Warren: …and Steve Bailey. It’s a Four Corners
Match.
Prentice: Four C…
(Prentice holds his stomach.)
Prentice: I don’t feel so good. I think I’m
gonna have to go and lie down for a while.
(“Picture Perfect” walks off gingerly with
Linda in tow. Mike Warren sniggers.)
Warren: Heh, go get ‘em, champ!
AW: I cannot believe this, Freeman! Who did
Prentice tick off?! First of all they make the vertigo-suffering TV champ
defend his gold in a cage match at Heatwave, and now he has to put the title on
the line against three other guys…tonight?!
CF: I can’t wait to see how he tries to squirm
out of this one! Coming up next, Prentice’s opponent at Heatwave, Luke
Champion, faces one half of the Tag Team Champions, Kevin “Who’s Yer Daddy?!”
Bradley.
AW: This should be a fantastic athletic
contest but both men will want to avoid injury just days away from Heatwave,
where both are involved in very high profile matches.
Luke Champion pinned Kevin Bradley after a
running powerslam in 0:19:34.
Rating: *** 1/4
CF: Champion picks up the win with that running powerslam, and that’s All She Wrote for Kevin Bradley!
AW: He should savour his victories now,
because he’ll come up short at Heatwave!
Post-match:
(Chaz Harris hits the ring and he and Bradley
attack Champion, beating him down to the canvas. The Punk Junkies run down to
make the save to a huge pop. Brainstorm and Twitch throw the World Tag Team Champions
over the top rope and then climb the turnbuckles, working the crowd. Cuthbert
D. Fharquar and Lord J. T. Potemkin enter the ring and pull Twitch and
Brainstorm down from the ropes and trade fists with them, kicking off an
unexpected tag team match.)
The Punk Junkies defeated Cuthbert D. Fharquar
and Lord J. T. Potemkin III when
Twitch pinned Potemkin III after the Grunge
Plunge in 0:17:31.
Rating: ** 3/4
CF: There it is, The Grunge Plunge! The Punk Junkies are looking good for Heatwave!
AW: I give all the credit in the world to
Fharquar and Potemkin for actually lowering themselves to wrestle two
disgusting degenerates like The Punk Junkies.
Post-match:
(Scottie Hero and Junior Jones run down the
ramp, carrying a ladder with them. The crowd are going wild. Hero throws the
ladder to Potemkin and nails him with a spinning heel kick, driving the ladder
into Potemkin’s face. Jones then leaps onto the top rope and plants Fharquar
with a springboard leaping swinging DDT onto the ladder. The aristocrats roll
out of the ring and gather themselves at ringside.)
CF: Hero and Jones have sent Fharquar and
Potemkin scurrying!
(Jones launches the ladder at the upper-class
duo, squashing both men underneath the steel. Hero then gets up a head of steam
and crushes Fharquar and Potemkin beneath the ladder with a Space Flying Tiger
Drop.)
CF: What a move!
AW: If I hadn’t been here to see it, I
wouldn’t have believed it!
(Junior Jones climbs to the top rope and
further crushes the landed gentry under the steel with a flying legdrop. All
four men are down at ringside.)
CF: Can you believe this?! If this is just a
taster of what we are going to see at Heatwave, then I can’t wait!
(The four combatants are helped to the back by
several officials.)
AW: There’s only one word for it Freeman,
“incredible”. Ladder matches have a history of stealing the show, and I have a
feeling that this Sunday at Heatwave will be no different.
CF: Up next here tonight on Hammerlock TV,
Devon Ferrari clashes with Midnight Blue in a match where falls count anywhere
in the building.
AW: This all came about after Saturday Fight
Night when the two men brawled to a double count-out. There has to be a winner
this evening. Both men are very consistent yet extremely underrated wrestlers
and if either man can take it to the next level, then big things are expected.
CF: And of course Ferrari only added fuel to the
fire by attempting to chat up two of Midnight Blue’s ladies, so who knows what
we are going to see here?!
Falls-Count-Anywhere Match:
Devon Ferrari pinned Midnight Blue with the Ego
Has Landed in 0:17:47.
Rating: *** 1/2
CF: Jaclyn Lick and Kandi have double crossed Midnight Blue and cost him the match!
AW: It’s one of life’s rules, Freeman – never
trust a woman.
CF: But why?
Why have they done this?
Post-match:
(Jaclyn Lick and Kandi join Devon Ferrari in
putting the boots to Midnight Blue, before leaving the ring arm-in-arm with
“Everybody’s Favourite Wrestler” to a negative reception. Serenity then gets in
the ring to check on her man.)
CF: Well at least one of Blue’s co-stars is
loyal.
AW: Blue had too many women anyway. He was
greedy.
CF: I really cannot understand this series of
events at all. Those untrustworthy, disloyal bit…
AW: Alright Freeman, watch your mouth. Those
ladies smartened up and realised that Devon Ferrari is the hottest ticket to
the top of Hammerlock.
CF: Next up, Prentice defends the NWA-UK World
Television Championship against Jawaid Kaleeq, Muerte de Antedicho and Steve
Bailey in a Four Corners Match.
AW: And I suppose you think he’s gonna chicken
out.
CF: Naturally.
AW: Well, you know what? I wouldn’t blame him
if he did. I mean, the people who book the matches here at Hammerlock obviously
have something against him. They are making him wrestle in a cage match, and he
suffers from vertigo for God’s sake!
CF: Vertigo my ass!
AW: I’m sure a lot of people are scared of
your ass, but I don’t think it’s called vertigo.
Jason Prentice interview, w/ Linda O’Neil.
(The three challengers are waiting impatiently
in the ring, when Jason Prentice’s music hits. The World Television Champion
hobbles out from the back, on crutches. The crowd boo him relentlessly.)
CF: Oh, what is this now?!
(The three men shake their heads in disbelief.
Bailey starts to argue with the referee.)
CF: This cowardice is just getting old now.
AW: How do you know he’s not genuinely
injured?
CF: Well, it’s just a hunch…because I’ve seen
him try this on 631 previous occasions.
(Prentice limps into the ring and calls for
the mic. An “asshole” chant breaks out in the crowd.)
Prentice: Unfortunately…
(Kaleeq doesn’t bother waiting and attacks
Prentice. Bailey and Antedicho follow suit while the referee deposits the
crutches from the ring.)
Four Corners Match:
Jason Prentice defeated Jawaid Kaleeq, Steve
Bailey and Muerte De Antedicho:
x
Antedicho beat Kaleeq via a tiger driver in 0:04:14
x Prentice beat Antedicho via the Perfect Plant in 0:13:19
x Prentice beat Bailey via a Northern Lights suplex in 0:18:05
Rating: ** 1/2
(Jason Prentice retained the NWA-UK World Television
Title.)
AW: Yes, yes, YES!!!
CF: Prentice escapes with the title, yet
again. You know, someday his luck is gonna run out.
AW: When you are better than everybody else,
you don’t need to rely on luck.
CF: I know, that’s why Prentice does rely on
it.
Post-match:
(M.J. runs down to the ring and attacks Steve
Bailey. Jason Prentice and M.J. then join forces in pounding Bailey, until
Migraine and Valkyrie hit the ring and make the save, sending the TV champ
scuttling out of the ring.)
CF: Prentice is sent running with his tail
between his legs as usual!
AW: Who do Migraine and Valkyrie think they
are?!
(Migraine and Valkyrie beat down M.J. until
Bryan Campbell makes his way down to the squared circle so that the main event
can get underway.)
Migraine and Valkyrie defeated Bryan Campbell
and M.J. when Migraine pinned
Campbell after a flying sunset flip in 0:21:55.
Rating: *** 1/2
CF: Migraine pins Campbell! That’s gonna give him the psychological edge for Heatwave!
AW: Fast count! FAST COUNT!!!
Post-match:
(Steve Bailey runs back down to the ring and
tackles M.J., sending him down to the canvas. Bailey and M.J. roll out of the
ring and brawl over the guardrail, into the crowd. The fans cheer them on as
they continue fighting.)
CF: Look at this! We need some help out here
to separate this brawl!
(As Migraine and Valkyrie witness the fight
from the ring, World Champion Hiro Kakuhari hits the ring and he and Campbell
blindside the duo. Kakuhari floors Migraine with a lightning quick barrage of
kicks and then plants him with the Rising Star Suplex. Campbell restrains
Valkyrie while Kakuhari measures her for a knock-out kick to the head, until
“Back To School (Mini Maggit)” by The Deftones hits.)
CF: The Iceman cometh!
AW: This isn’t good…
(Ben Winter runs down to the ring and ducks
Bryan Campbell’s clothesline attempt, before shooting him into the ropes and
viciously driving him down to the mat with a spinebuster. Winter blocks a kick
from Kakuhari and drops him with a neckbreaker to a huge pop.)
AW: Winter is cleaning house!
(Byson hits the ring and sends The Iceman down
with a hard clothesline, before stomping and kneeing the fallen Winter to an
eruption of boos. Kakuhari then grabs his World Championship belt and cracks
Byson in the back of the head. Byson tumbles out of the ring and Kakuhari
climbs the ropes, raising his gold and spitting a mouthful of mist in the air.
The crowd jeers him unremittingly.)
CF: Much like Byson did last Saturday,
Kakuhari leaves his Heatwave opponents laying!
(Kakuhari helps Bryan Campbell back to his
feet and the two men leave the ring together.)
AW: What a performance. Despite that neck
problem, Kakuhari is still extremely dangerous.
CF: Well, that’s about all from us here in
Folkestone. We hope that you’ll all join us next Saturday for Saturday Fight
Night, but for Adam Wheeler I’m Chris Freeman saying goodnight, everybody!
