Kyle Coulbourne spent the early days of his career plugging away on the North Carolina independent circuit, accepting bookings with OMEGA and New Dimension. He was sold as a bottom rung up and comer with a squeaky clean gimmick. Coulbourne suffered a televised loss to Taz in his ECW try-out in February 1997. Coulbourne started teaming with Brandon Alvarez, forming the New Young Lions tandem in the summer of 1999. The duo possess unparalleled teamwork and are extremely over, especially with teenage girls. They were the hottest unsigned combo in professional wrestling until they thrashed out a deal with Hammerlock in July 2001.
