Hammerlock TV
Episode #3
Broxbourne Civic Hall
Your commentary team is Adam Wheeler and Chris Freeman.
The show opens with a video package recapping the outcomes of the first round of
Heavyweight Championship tournament matches. Adam Wheeler and Chris Freeman
welcome viewers to the show and review the events of Group A in the tournament
so far, specifically the injury to Steve Bailey and how it has affected things.
Bailey had to withdraw from the tourney as a result of a back injury caused by
Byson, which left the group with three participants. Midnight Blue is as good as
through to the next round, which means that the winner of tonight's bout between
Byson and Scottie Hero will join him. Remember though that Byson attacked Hero
with a chair on last week's show, so Hero will also be out to gain a measure of
revenge here.
Backstage, a petrified Kelly attempted to grab a few words with Byson. Byson
looked extremely intense, pacing back and forth with water dripping from his
long dark hair. As he prepared to talk, Steve Bailey jumped him from behind with
some stiff forearm shots and hurled him into a wall! Byson clutched his arm and
yelled as officials prevented Bailey from doing any more damage. Chris Freeman
reminded everyone that Bailey was barred from ringside for the Byson-Hero bout.
[NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title Tournament Group A, Round 3]:
Scottie Hero pinned Byson after a small package in 0:13:40.
Rating: ** 1/2
Match analysis:
It is uncertain whether Bailey's attack had any impact on the outcome of this
bout, but it certainly couldn't have been of any help to Byson. Byson was
noticeably favouring his left arm throughout the contest and seemed to want to
get it over with early, scoring a series of two counts with a spinebuster slam,
a spear and a falcon arrow. Hero seized the advantage with a nice plancha onto
Byson, but Byson turned things back into his favour with two shattering spears -
one of which was in the corner - for a two and half count. Midnight Blue was
shown watching proceedings on a backstage monitor, obviously interested in what
would happen. Serenity was sitting in his lap nibbling his neck, but Blue told
her stop so he could concentrate on the match!! Scottie Hero looked for the Hero
Call, but Byson turned it into a devastating Tombstone! Byson then set Hero up
for a DDT, but Hero countered with a small package for the three count out of
nowhere!!
The crowd went nuts for Hero, while Byson almost had a fit in the ring. Freeman
speculated that somewhere Steve Bailey had a huge smile across his face. Scottie
Hero tops the group as a result of this win, joining Midnight Blue in the knock
out stage.

We had an opportunity next to look at two of the tag teams here in NWA-UK
Hammerlock. First, the Bodysnatchers - William Burke and William Blair. They are
two tough rule-breaking brawlers who base themselves on Burke and Hare, possibly
two of Scotland's most gruesome serial killers. Burke and Hare set themselves up
as procurers of human bodies to satisfy the demand of Edinburgh's medical
schools. Originally the two would dig up the graves of the recently departed in
the dead of night, steal the body and then sell it for cash to a doctor for use
during anatomy demonstrations. Their opponents, "The Front Page" Brandon Alvarez
and "The Feature Attraction" Kyle Coulbourne, are the New Young Lions. These
talented young workers formed the New Young Lions tandem in the summer of 1999
and they possess unparalleled teamwork and are extremely over, especially with
teenage girls. They were the hottest unsigned combo in professional wrestling
until they thrashed out a deal with Hammerlock in July 2001.
The New Young Lions (Brandon Alvarez and Kyle Coulbourne) defeated
The Bodysnatchers (William Burke and William Blair) when K. Coulbourne pinned
Blair after an Asai moonsault in 0:03:32.
Rating: ** 1/4
Match analysis:
A surprisingly short contest, but enjoyable nonetheless. The Bodysnatchers took
the advantage early with a nice double DDT on Alvarez. Later on, Kyle Coulbourne
scored with an amazing tope onto both Burke and Blair! The Bodysnatchers never
recovered from that and had no answer to the New Young Lions' innovative double
team offence; Coulbourne ended things with a beautiful Asai Moonsault on Blair.
Group B culminates after the break - who will advance?? It's absolutely
anybody's guess!!

Junior Jones is the only grappler definitely eliminated from the tournament in
Group B. The winner of the next contest between Cuthbert D. Fharquar, unbeaten
thus far, and The Punisher, is certain to advance. Any kind of draw would also
be good enough for Fharquar, but that result would leave The Punisher sweating
on the outcome of the Jones-Bryan Campbell bout which follows.
[NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title Tournament Group B, Round 3]:
The Punisher and Cuthbert D. Fharquar battled to a draw in 0:15:00.
Rating: ** 1/2
Match analysis:
The Punisher tried to finish Fharquar off as quickly as he could with his
powerful arsenal of moves, determined to make it through to the next stage.
However, the snobbish aristocrat absorbed a sidewalk slam, a sitout power bomb,
a backbreaker and a vicious spear and came roaring back with two dragon suplexes.
The Punisher gained a near fall with a Sky High power bomb. The battle spilled
to the floor and Fharquar's butler Jeeves tried to interject himself, but The
Punisher decked him with a hard right hand and planted Fharquar with a T-Bone
suplex in the aisle! Back in the ring, The Punisher escaped Fharquar's Stretch
Plum, the move that had made Junior Jones tap in the previous round of matches.
The time ticked away as Fharquar scored with a somersault slam and held the
tights, but The Punisher still managed to kick out. The time limit then expired.
Fharquar was ecstatic as he booked his place in the second stage, whereas The
Punisher was visibly upset at his performance. He still has a chance of
advancing, albeit a very slim one.
***Commercial break***
"The Blue Chipper" Bryan Campbell exuded confidence as he made his way down to
the ring for his match with "International Bright Young Thing" Junior Jones. He
was coming off one of the biggest wins of his career against The Punisher last
week and just had to avoid defeat here in order to go further in the tournament.
Campbell took the microphone and confronted Junior Jones. He lambasted Jones'
performance in the group, claiming that because he was now eliminated, he
shouldn't have even turned up tonight. Campbell ordered Jones to step aside and
let him win, as he had nothing left to play for. Jones corrected Campbell,
saying that he had one last thing to play for - kicking Campbell's ass! The
crowd roared as Jones went on the attack and the final match-up in Group B was
underway!!
[NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title Tournament Group B, Round 3]:
Junior Jones pinned Bryan Campbell with the Leaping Swinging DDT in 0:09:37.
Rating: ****
Match analysis:
This was a tremendously heated contest, with Jones overwhelming Campbell at the
beginning with a slingshot legdrop, a German suplex, a side suplex and a flying
legdrop. Campbell took a short cut by going to the eyes and then nailed a flying
bulldog on Jones. The Blue Chipper almost grabbed the three points he craved
with a flying cross body press and a lovely flying forearm. However, Jones
returned fire with a Frankensteiner and a blockbuster. Jones went up top and
connected with a flying huracanrana, stunning Campbell long enough to blast him
with a swinging DDT for the amazing three count!!! The roof almost came off the
Broxbourne Civic Hall! Bryan Campbell was in a state of disbelief! He's out of
the tournament!!
As the realisation of the situation kicked in, Campbell desperately argued with
the official that he had made a fast count. Campbell then pulled the celebrating
Junior Jones off the turnbuckles and stomped the hell out of him. He picked
Jones up and dropped him across the top rope, injuring the International Bright
Young Thing's throat. Campbell choked Jones mercilessly and then went outside
the ring to grab a chair, but officials and road agents quickly arrived on the
scene to prevent Campbell doing any further damage. Beside himself with anger,
Campbell threw the chair against the ground. To make matters worse, Jones goes
above Campbell in the group as a result of beating him, leaving the Blue Chipper
in last place! Campbell continued to protest about what had happened as the show
went off air.
Circuit information:
Junior Jones was not seriously injured after the attack by Bryan Campbell, who
will be severely reprimanded by Hammerlock management for his actions.
Byson's arm seems to be fine too. He has threatened to tear Steve Bailey apart
the next time he sees him.
Final group standings after round 3:
Group A:
Scottie Hero 4
Midnight Blue 2
Byson 1
