What is it with security guards I mean what is their purpose in life? is their any use for them in the human race? Well I don't think so personally do you? But the powers that be find them a necessary evil to guard their premise from unwanted guest (does this mean Couriers?)and to guard the building contents from theft So it goes without fail I walk into a building to pick up/deliver a job to be ask by a security guard to remove my helmet and leave it with him on reception why? (is it because he wants to secretly fondle my helmet while I’m gone to deliver my package as he might be a closet helmet polisher I've all ways wondered what they get up to on the night shift) But its a roof flip up helmet for gods sake you can see my face look ! I'm not a burglar I'm just trying to earn an honest living here. But no he wants me to leave him my £200 lid with him on full view on top of the reception counter. Now here is my argument would you leave a piece of your property worth £200 that you need for your job with someone you don't know. I won’t would you? So I ask him to take responsibility for my helmet by signing a piece of paper to say he takes full responsibility for loss or stolen helmet to the value of £200 but they wont because that's not their job. So what is their job? Usually it ends up with me either just ignoring him and going up to get the job done with me holding my lid in my hands. Or I just go outside and radio though to control to get the package brought to me by the customer that’s not very professional I hear you say. But what can you do I tried reasoning with them but they don’t want to listen. I even tried ringing the security guards head offices to put complaints in at their personal department which just falls on deaf ears. Now what if the despatch association got all it member to address this problem with their customers. No I don’t think they will as you don’t want to upset your customers as they might go else were then they see a fall in their profits. Then the boss might have to sell his big posh BMW/Jag etc so he can still keep little Jeremy in his private education So why do we have a Despatch Association is it there for them or us? I never been invited out to one off their corporate piss up they have on expenses (have you Roger?) But I'm still holding on to the hope that one day I will get in invite or I might win the lottery if I remember to buy a ticket So you just got to keep it up right and don’t let the Barsteds get you down
