My Book about Hawkhurst in Kent

I am presently researching for a book about the village of Hawkhurst. The research I have done for my Family History has led me to this loveliest of places in Kent near the Sussex border where there is so much fascinating history that I felt it should be written about.

My book will start from Roman times and will probably finish around the middle of the 19th Century. It will include the rise and fall of many wealthy men including the clothiers who made their fortunes here up until the decline of the industry in about 1700. It will also tell of the rogues through the ages and include a bit about smuggling which was common in this area during the 1800s.

I intend the book to contain the history of houses, the mills and of course the people who lived and died here.
