Trefgarn.

The rectory of Trefgarn seems to have always been in private patronage. In 1594 it was appendant to the manor of Trefgarn, then owned by the Newport family [of High Ercall, Salop].---Owen's Pem.

Tref Garne.---Ecclesia ibidem ex collacione Thomas Newport armigeri unde Thomas Powell clericus est rector unam parvam mansionem. Et valet fructus hujus beneficii per annum xl. Inde sol in ordinario visitacione quolibet tercio anno viij. Et in visitacione archidiaconi quolibet anno pro sinodalibus et procuracionibus v ix. Et remanet clare 33s. 7d.
