St Petrox – St Pedrock

This rectory appears to have been from the earliest period appendant to the manor of Stackpole.  See under Stackpole Elidor.

Under the name, 'Ecclesia de Sancto Patroce.' this church was in 1291 assessed at £10 for tenths to the King, the sum payable being £1.--Taxatio

Ecclesia Sancti Petroci.--Ecclesia ibidem ex presentacione domini de Stackepoole Glider under Willielmus Jenkyn est rector et habet ibidem unam mansionem et valet fructus ibidem communibus annis viij inde sol' in ordinaria visitacione quolibet tercio anno viij et in visitacione sol' archidiacono Menevensi pro procuracionibus et sinodalibus quolibet anno v ix.  Et in pensione priori de Pembr' x per annum.  Et remanet clare £7 3s 7d.  Inde decima 13s 4½d.--Valor Eccl.

Under the heading 'Livings Discharged' :--St Pedrock alias St Petrox R.  Ordinario quolibet tertio anno 8d.  Archidiac. quolibeth anno 5s 9d.  Pens. Pri. Pem. 10s.  John Campbell, Esq., 1728, 1780.  Clear yearly value, £32.  King's Books, £7 3s 9d.--Bacon's Liber Regis.

The rectory of St Petrox was united to the rectory of Stackpole Elidor by an Order in Council dated 22 May 1839.
