The Study
Centre
The Study Centre was established in 1998 in the former
Nosshead Lighthouse Estate. This site adjoins Sinclair and Girnigoe
Castles and can be clearly seen at the end of the road. Clan
archivist, Ian Sinclair acquired and established the Study Centre to
provide a resource for historians and genealogists. The location of Niven
Sinclair's library within the Centre incorporates a number of exceptional
and invaluable historical texts. The Study Centre also contains
information on Sinclair and Girnigoe Castles. Visitors to the castles will
be able to extend their understanding of our ancient Clan seat.
Exhibitions of the castle's history will accompany photographs on the
castle architecture and plans for its future restoration. Information will
also be available on sites of interest to Sinclairs throughout Scotland.
Some of these are included on the map-pages of this website. The Study
Centre also has accommodation for up to seven people at the "Laird's
retreat". Please contact Ian Sinclair in advance for availability of
the Centre.
Ian is also a wealth of information on the history of the Sinclair line in Scotland and the Sinclair castles.
He would be pleased to tour the castle and the study centre with
interested individuals or groups by arrangement. |
