The club was formed in 1963 as a youth team under the title of Newport Pagnell Wanderers. At the time, the only other club in the town was that of the prestige car manufacturer Aston Martin Lagonda. The Wanderers first games were on the pitch next to the cricket square on Bury Field Common with changing rooms at the back of the Cannon public house in Union Street. The next season saw them enter the North Bucks League and win the Division Three Shield. Aston Martin Football Club folded soon after, and with several of their senior players joining up with the Wanderers, the club embarked on an era of almost unparalled success in junior football. They went on to win the North Bucks League Division Two and Division One titles in successive seasons and for three years almost unbeatable as league champions. One of the mainstays of the team was Alan Higgins who, in five seasons between 1964 and 1969 scored an incredible 142 goals. During this period they also won two Stantonbury Charity Cups and crowds were regularly in the hundreds local derbies with the likes of Yardley Gobion, Towcester and Olney. For the 1971-72 season the Wanderers moved on to the South Midlands League, using the faclilities at the Youth Club in Wolverton Road. Then in April 1972 came the long awaited move to new facilities at the Willen Road Sportsground. With the new ground came a change of name and the Wanderers became Newport Pagnell Town F.C. The following year saw the clubs entry into it's present League the United Counties
