I was both amused and mortified to find that it was three days short of two years since I last updated this index page! The site has had some work done on it but on other pages... sadly some of this was work in progress and was lost when my HD died earlier this year. In particular I was less than pleased to have lost the step by step photos of the brewing process. Still no point in crying over a spilled pint! Onwards and upwards! I shall borrow a digital camera again and get to work... eventually! For the record Duane still has not finished his DIY brewing book, and I have not been able to brew as much as I would like, due to a combination of house moving parenthood and other increased responsibilities. The link to the Wheeler and Protz books in the Camra shop keeps changing so I have just put a link to the Camra site on the left hand side of the page... I'm sure you'll be able to find it. Cheers This site is about to get it's spring clean and oil change all in one go... Uncle Duane (The guy who taught me to brew) still hasn't finished the brewing master plan (see below) so I have got down with it and knocked up some basic instructions in Flash5 which while they are not perfect should take you through the basics and demystify the whole process a bit. You really need to buy one of the Wheeler books if you want to make beer but this will certainly show you how easy it really is... honest.
I'm also finally getting round to updating some of the other bits of this neglected little enclave! I'm not some dumb ass who likes to get
drunk and thought that it would be cool to do a page on beer, I like
to try diferent types of beers from all round the world. I also like
to make my own beer from a full mash, which you can read about if you
go to the section imaginativley entitled "Beer Log". I started
doing this page while killing time making my first ever solo brew, previously
I'd been guided by Duane but I am now a fully fledged home brewer. As I said previously I shall be including
info from Duane's as yet unpublished pamphlet, but for those of you
who just simply can't wait I'd suggest getting hold of
"Home
Brewing" by Graham Wheeler published by CAMRA (1993, 1997)
Appart from providing ordering information for the above mentioned books the CAMRA web site also contains information which is of interest to any one with an interest in beer. As with all radical overhauls,
not all of the links will work properly
straight away, and some of the flash may well misbehave as it is the
first time I have used it on a web site. I will try and iron out any
kinks I find in the next few days so please be patient. I eventually
intend putting pause and play buttons in the flash so that people can
stop and start the animations as required. Beer Watchers
