DOUGLAS STREET

WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM

Douglas Street Soccer Team is a women's soccer club, currently playing in the second division of the Cork League.   Sponsored by Loafers Bar in Douglas Street, the team has been in existence since 19..... A predominantly new team of players competed at first division level in 1998, but unfortunately Douglas Street were just reaching form as the season ended, and this was not enough to save the team from relegation to the second division this year.

1999 opened positively with a series of convincing wins.  It remains to be seen whether the team can overcome the persistent problem of injuries and absences to challenge for the league against strong sides such as Lee Valley Celtic, CSO and Kilumney.   One thing, however, is certain, Douglas Street will be worth watching in this year's battle of the ball-bashing babes!

Practice is at 6.30 pm at the Wilton United grounds on the Lee Road.   Matches are held on Wednesdays at 6.45 or 7.00 pm.  Check the website for location.   Supporters are always welcome (particularly if they bring the half-time cigarettes oranges). are The team is also seeking sponsorship - if you can help, contact the team delegate.

Douglas Street Supporters' Chant

To the tune of Camptown Races:

This is our supporters' song,  do da, do da.

We can't sing, so it can't be long, do da, do da day.

Goin' to cheer all night.

Goin' to drink all day.

And who's the team that we support?  DOUGLAS STREET! OLÉ!
