The death of Mr. F. W. J. Chaundy, aged 85, occurred on Monday at 21, Grays Road, Headington. The eldest son of the late Mr. John Chaundy, of Ye Olde Picture Shoppe, Broad Street, Oxford, he was a chorister at SS. Philip and James' Church at the early age of six, and from 1866 to 1872 he was a chorister at New College. A pupil of the late Sir Walter Parratt, his life was devoted to music. Mr. Chaundy had connections with many Oxford churches, and he was for many years organist at Chipping Norton. In his younger days he was a keen oarsman and rowed at Marlow and Henley. His wife died in 1915. They had three sons and four daughters. | |
