ELECTION OF GUARDIANS. - On Saturday last between the hours of 11 and 8 the polloing took place for the election of Guardians in the parishes of St. Aldate's and St. Ebbe's. In each case the schoolroom was utilised for the purpose, but the interest taken in the event was not great. ...IN St. Ebbe's teh candidates were Mrs. Charlotte Maria Toynbee, 10, Norham Gardens, and Mr. Arthur Bossom Chaundy, 13, Littlegate-street. Mrs. Toynbee was elected Guardian for St. Ebbe's in 1893 in the place of Mr. W. Carlile, who resigned in her favour, and since then she has proved herself a very useful member of the Board. The polling took place in the Bridge-street schoolroom. The deputy returning officer was Mr. W. Gray, and he and Mr. G. Annetts were presiding officers. The polling clerks were Messrs. F. Grierson and P.S. Allin. Mr H. Molyneux acted as relief to the officers. There are 1035 voters on the list, of whom 537 recorded their votes.
