July in Regent's Park

Regents Park in July

July is a special month in the park. The tourist season is fully underway , the Open Air Theatre has begun. There are activities for children , like puppet shows and even more office workers come to sun themselves in the lunch hour. The band concerts have begun and although the Rose Garden is magnificent in June, the roses in July just bask in the sun and continue to produce new buds. The smell on a summer evening, when there has been a light shower and the sun comes out again, is lovely , and roses often have beads of rain on them that sparkle .

The picture shows the small waterfall near the North west part of the lake. You can see it again at small waterfall

.

On the right you can see one of the hundreds of lovely roses in July .For more roses go to roses through the year

This is the rose garden on July evening showing a bed of yellow roses.

Here is a picture of one of the urns in the formal gardens in the south-east part of the park near St Andrew's gate and Great Portland Street station .For more pictures go to statues and formal gardens. These were formally laid our in Victorian times and have recently been restored to their former glory. f************************************************************

*****************************These two pictures on the left and below were taken on Marylebone Green near the football pitch . It suddenly appeared in July 2001 and was a big rugby ball made out of lots of smaller ones. I was glad I had my camera with me as it was an unexpected sight and was only there for a few weeks.........

.

This picture of the boating lake was taken on July26th 2001. The lush foliage and the appearance of the lake make it difficult to believe that this is less than half a mile from the busy Marylebone Road..

The last picture on the page shows the small cascade hidden at the edge of Queen Mary's Garden far awya from the spectacular and well known cascade by the lake in the Rose Garden You can see it again on my March page The Park in August
