07/01/00: Fox Goes
Long serving Exeter City manager has left the club, their early season run being slighted by poor resources and the South Western air.
02/01/00: Kleanthous Pissed
Perhaps understadably, Tony K is extremely annoyed at the fact that the Bees are to be fined £2,500 by the League in response to their late arrival at Hartlepool in November. This was sue to them not knowing about the 7.30pm kick off in the god-forsaken hell hole in the deepest North East. An appeal is currently pending, although don't hold your breaths....
09/12/99: Kleanthous Downbeat About Underhill Redevelopment
The Barnet Borough Times today shed more light on their scoop last week regarding the League's two year Underhill extension. They will allow us leeway regarding the slope and covered seating, provided the capacity is raised to the 6,000 minimum required. In addition, if further progress towards finding a new ground is being made after this period, an extension may be granted.
TK's reaction in the light of this news was not one which warms the cockles of the heart. He points out that at some stage in the near future, requirements for all-seater 6,000 capacity stadiums will be introduced in the lower two leagues (compared to the current 6,000 with 2,000 seated requirements). This would render his estimated £2million pound investment in such improvements obsolete - with estimates that a covered all-seater stadium on the existing site would hold at max 4,800.
08/12/99: Griffiths goes to Orient
As was suspected, the flopped target man has returned to London - but with the equally flopping O's. £90,000 is quite a price to pay for a man who has scored only two so far this year - but at least they make a net £10,000 profit on the transfer (they sold him to Port Vale in the first place for £100,000). Wonder what good it'll do them?
08/12/99: Heald signs new contract?
According to those most enigmatic of Teamtalk headlines, we've got 'Heald on new deal'. You're guesses areas good as mine but does this mean that the expensive one has been tied to Underhill for a little longer? All will be revealed soon no doubt.
06/12/99: League throws Club ground lifeline
According to reports in this week's Barnet Borough Times, the Football League has granted Barnet a guaranteed two year extension at Underhill, providing they can get the ground up to six thousand capacity. It also mentions the possibility of the adjoining cricket club selling a strip of land to enable expansion of the West Bank (South Stand).
05/12/99: Griffiths linked to Barnet?
In surely the most tenuous link, Sports First today mentioned the possibility of the £100,000 rated unhappy Port Vale striker Carl Griffiths moving southwards, with his former club Leyton Orient being favourite. However, the two goals this season 'star' would seem an unlikely target for the Club in light of our squad's performance thus far up front - and our obvious financial constraints.
