Kings Stanley is a small village situated in the Cotswolds south of Gloucester,  and was well known during this period, along with the sorrounding villages, as a thriving textile manufacturing area and also became an area, incidentally?, renowned for the influx of French Huguenot settlers earlier on.

4th WILLIAM BALLARD (WILLIAM,   WILLIAM,  WILLIAM,  UNKNOWN), was born about 1772[vii],  to WILLIAM BALLARD (WILLIAM, WILLIAM,  UNKNOWN), and ANN LUSTY. It is,  as yet,   not known were this took place, only that it was not in Bristol, but in another County.

ANN BALLARD (nee Lusty), died and was buried, 3rd of October 1777, she was buried at Broadmead Baptist (non conformist) Burial ground,   Lewins Mead ( Presbyterian[viii] or Uniterian[ix] ) and it was noted in the burial records that the family were “very poor”(This was probubly information given to enable the burial to be paid for by the Parish (Poor Law Acts)).

An earlier burial on the 9th of March 1775 at the same location, indicates a “CHILD BALLARD”, (of WILLIAM “poor”), possibly a child of William and Ann,  was buried?.  Being poor meant that relief from the Parish was probably given for the burial, and would have been recorded in the Parish Records,  The Incorporation of the Poor was administered from St. Peters Church,. Castle Green and was bombed during WWII,  so very few records survive.

On the 3rd day of February 1784,  WILLIAM BALLARD (WILLIAM,   WILLIAM, UNKNOWN),  re-married, to SARAH DAVIES the widow of THOMAS DAVIES, a Butcher.  They married at St. Phillip and Jacob, Parish Church in Bristol,  He later his recorded in the Bristol Burgess Books some 3 months later, as follows;
