Welcome to Aberdeen LETS! Who are we?A Local Exchange Trading System, or LETS, is a community-based non-profit group whose members trade goods and services with each other without using cash. Trading is based on barter, with a local unit of currency (in Aberdeen, the "Cassie"). If you'd like to know

For more about us, read on ... Our membershipFounded in 1993, Aberdeen LETS currently has about 50 members. Our membership is set down in our constitution, and is open to anyone in or around Aberdeen. (If you don't live locally, we can put you in touch with your nearest group.) We also have a members' agreement,
which members should sign when they join. Management committeeAny member of Aberdeen LETS can join the
management committee. (More details can be found in the constitution.)
Committee members are currently paid 4 Cassies per hour for their
services, as these can be quite time-consuming. SubscriptionYou can choose to pay C/£4 (4 Pounds or 4 Cassies) per year, OR C/£1 per newsletter/directory. And you can earn Cassies simply by passing the news on to another member! The only other money that changes hands is for
goods and services, passing directly from one member to another, at
rates and proportions (pounds-to-Cassies) agreed between them. What's it worth?It's not just about buying and selling; there's a lot more to it than that. It's a great way to meet new people, try new hobbies, make use of all your skills and experience, gain confidence ...
